Serves him right. I'm sorry if I laughed kinda knowing if he survived. Your wish came true in a way. But thankfully he survived after all.

Whenever I'm missing my Nana, I watch Clara's videos. It makes me feel closer to her. She passed away 20 years ago this week. I miss the unconditional love you can only get from your grandmother.

Just happened to come across your channel Clara… Love your cooking but the best part is hearing your stories… I know you are no longer here… But know you are still touching hearts while in heaven… Your family was very lucky to have such a beautiful woman to call sister, mother, grandma, Nana, aunt… The list goes on.. GOD BLESS your entire family

My favorite all time meal. My Nonna put small fava beans in the water and a few spoonfuls of tomato sauce to give it more taste.

Our family does what she's doing with stale bread. We believe it was an actual dish from Southern Italy meant to use up stale bread. When leftover Italian bread gets almost rock solid, it's sliced and softened by dipping in a little hot water, then sprinkled with olive oil, red wine vinegar, a little salt, black pepper (or red pepper flakes if you're so inclined), a little very finely minced garlic, and minced fresh or dried oregano. Sometimes diced fresh tomatoes were scattered over the top and it might be sprinkled with some grated Pecorino Romano cheese, too. It was one of my mother's favorite things to eat. If you get all the proportions just right, it's really delicious.

Now this is a prime example of how people stretched every crumb of food they had in those days. Use your old bread to make a super simple, filling snack. Can you imagine how much old bread just gets thrown away today?
