My strict diet is actually my freedom ….my Plan is my peace of mind and my plan is so connected to my vibrancy !!!!!!! Having a plan of what works for me opens up a whole world of free time to think about other things and do other things and DANG FEEL LIKE DOING IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know the sad thing is that orthorexic behavior can really look like compassionate choices — at least at the start of it all.
I also feel as though it has a lot to do with a disconnection from your body. You feel worse over time even when you are supposed to be doing the right stuff. But you can't stop because that way of eating is your walls. How do you keep control on life without walls?

Tim,  you really reach my mind and heart with the things you say and in the way you say it. You have a gift in expressing knowledge and in doing so in a compassionate and understanding way. To me, this is what I need to be motivated to make the changes for better health and a better me.  Thank you so much for your honesty about depression .  You are genuine and sincere and this is really appreciated by ones like myself, who need such encouragement. Thank you for really putting yourself out there…you are no doubt touching people's lives.

3:10 area hit the nail on the head for me. Been battling some things myself and tried to be present to the emotions. It is hard to be present when it is miserable and painful. I think acceptance and peace is the golden key to freedom

Yeah! I love this. I used to live a little, all the time. Now I live a lot. Heh as if eating junk is "really living" anyway.

Okay, this is going to be the video I refer people to who ask my the same question.  You articulated so well and in such detail…….so much better than the answers I stumble out with. Thanks for being so contemplative and thorough with your answers!

I agree with you Tim. However, people that are coming from eating the standard American diet for decades, a diet that does not include animal products and processed foods seems pretty restrictive. it sometimes takes a while for these folks to realize that a vegan diet isn't restrictive.

You may have made a video on this before, i'm not sure, but have you ever explained why you don't go to the doctor for checkups or anything? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Wonderful, I love this. Thank you for doing what you're doing. I specifically enjoy how you twist different aspects of things to shine some light on new perspectives and information. I've had a number of "ah" and "oh" and "aha" moments while watching your videos (also a lot of "haha" moments). So thanks again, you are gold.

We live in a world where living healthfully is actually unhealthy to the minds of the general population. I once saw a nutritionist who suggested that I eat 60g of fat a day and start incorporating animal foods and nasty desserts back in my diet to be more "flexible" … Although I'm against violence, I felt a strong urge to punch her.

Very interesting thoughts, but a couple things I have trouble understanding. Basically, you're talking on one side about your raw food choices that make you feel strong and allow you to perform at your best, and on the other side about the salty, sweet and fat american diet that makes people feel weak and lazy. Don't you think there is a full range of diet choices you can make in between those 2 "extremes" that would still make you feel great and allow you to perform at your best?

I know you won't like the word "extreme" associated to your food choices, but being 100% raw is extreme and that's ok. "Extreme" doesn't mean wrong at all, and in fact I would never be the one to tell you how you should "live a little" by eating food that doesn't make you feel good. It's a fact that what you eat and how you eat it makes you feel strong and perform well, you've proven it and it's awesome. No reason to deviate from what makes you feel great and live well, that's the bottom line.

That being said, I do think that what works for you might not work for the person next to you just as well. I think people should go towards what makes them "feel great and perform at their best", but this doesn't necessarily mean being 100% raw in my opinion. It does for you, and that's awesome, but I don't think it necessarily makes it "the way to go" for everyone.

I am from France, and as you know we like our "french cuisine" :). I eat a lot of what I would consider as « quality food » that you wouldn't want to even try I'm sure, and I still « feel great and perform well ». I am a trail runner like you, in love with it just as much as you are, I also love cycling and swimming. In Europe, we have a lot of athletes who are competing at world class level and are miles away from a diet that you would approve.

Have you heard of Kilian Jornet? He is without a doubt the best trail runner in the world right now, and has admitted not following a specific diet, even falling for what you call « confort food » once in a while. He is obviously self-conscious about what he eats, and I do believe you need to be in order to perform at your peak, but he is far from being 100% raw and I don't think he would need to be in order to perform « at his peak ».

To summarize, I would just say that I don't believe in the « one size fits all » ideology, and I believe there are plenty of ways to feel great and perform at your peak, not just one. We are all unique, physically, emotionnally, psychologically, so I would tend to think that there is not 1 answer to what we need to feel great, it's a personal journey that everyone needs to take.

That's it for me! All the best to you Tim, been following you for a while now and I like what you do.

Does the word strength actually come from the german word "streng"? I'm from germany. There are quite many people here complaining about how many english words have found their way into our language but dont know that there are also many german words that "emigrated" from here.
Anyway nice video! Thanks for your thoughts on this topic, Tim. 🙂

Great video and it just so happens these foods fight free radical damage and clear yourself of lactic acid which slows your athletic performance. Oh and you probably will never get a disease either. Keep living a lot! I think that Tannyraw would like a meet and greet.

Hi Tim, this video was very timely for me.  Please keep up the good work you are doing.  You are encouraging many people like me to hang in there fight for their health after they have lost it.  Take care, Adam

Love this video and wanted to say it helped me stay strong on this diet. I like your perspective on comfort foods and trying to confront the real issues. Also It was the eat well, feel well, and perform well that really hit home for me today after my work out, and this doesn't even apply to just exercise but everything in life like school work as well.
